Halloween Night

Cecelia as Junko Tabei, Lydia as Tinkerbell (yes, I gave in to Disney), Sylvia as Murphy (my brother's basset hound), I am a hula girl, and Bob a blind referee.  We got bags of candy this year!  Holy Cow!

Halloween Morning

With Bob gone so often working on Schaeffer, we hadn't had a chance to pick pumpkins to carve.  Nothing like last minute... we finally chose pumpkins on the morning of Halloween.  Bob's Aunt Jane and cousin Jacinta were here too so they went with us, as well as Ron and Lucille.  The kids had so much fun at Daniel's Farm and we did too.  The jack-o-lanterns turned out very cute this year.  Warning TONS of pics below.

Junko Tabei

For Campbell's Halloween celebration, the kids can only wear a costume if they can dress as and tell about a historical figure.  Cecelia had an Asian outfit she really wanted to wear so we did a little research.  There were not many Asian women we could find, that were historically significant.  One we did find was the first woman to make it to the top of Mount Everest.  Her name was Junko Tabei.  Cecelia typed a report, found a picture, and was all ready to go.  Unfortunately, dad had no idea about any of it because he hasn't been home in weeks (remember Schaeffer).  He didn't think she needed her costume so Cecelia didn't have it for school.  I found this out at 8:00 as my day began.  I was so upset by it because of all the hard work that was put into it, that I rearranged my schedule, traded plan times and skipped lunch, just so I could make it home to get her costume and take it to her.  I am glad I did, her teacher said she had been upset all morning.  The before school people even helped her rewrite her paper!  Here is her paper and a pic of her presenting.

Halloween Bash

We had a costume party for Halloween that was a hit to say the least.  With kids and adults we hit 60 and then stopped counting.  My house resembled a frat house the next day!  For those non-Montessori people, Bridget in the pink outfit is the pink tower (a Montessori teaching tool), which was a hit with the Montessori crowd at the party :).

One week of laundry in the Hines house minus sheets, blankets and towels.  It isn't even winter yet!

Lydia and Zoe

Zoe is Lydia's BFF right now and she had a birthday party at Whole Foods.  Once again, Lydia was so proud to get to do something special her sisters didn't get to do.  She is so sweet :)!

Lydia's Bread

Lydia is extended day at school now which means that she does not nap there.  On the weekends she has still been napping to catch up on lost sleep from during the week.  This day, however she couldn't sleep.  Cecelia was at a friend's house.  Lydia snatched up the opportunity to have mommy to herself and she baked her first banana bread without having to share the measuring and mixing with her sisters!

October.85.degrees.Really?

We headed to a pumpkin patch with friends from Campbell today.  It was a strange day, 85 degrees was a bit warm for everybody.  They took off shirts, tights, whatever they could without being naked!.  Cecelia had a sweater on and I luckily had a tank top and t-shirt so Cecelia wore my t-shirt!  The girls had fun with all of their friends despite the heat, especially the hay ride and corn cob shooter.
